Today Marks Day 1,000 of Roman Reigns’ WWE Championship Reign

As a 20+ year wrestling fan, I hate Roman Reigns. The fact that he has reached 1,000 days as champion blows my mind. There are a lot of reasons for that.
- He can’t win on his own. Every single match has had outside interference from his family. It’s a five-person effort!
- Roman doesn’t defend. He’s put the title on the line once every two months (instead of 1–2 times a month). Tonight would be a good time to defend at the Night of Champions Premium Live Event. However, he’s wrestling in the tag team division with his cousin.
- He’s planning to take more time without the title being taken away from him. Liv Morgan, part of the women’s tag team division just got injured. Her title reign with Raquel Rodriguez was immediately ended and she had to give up her title. Yet Roman doesn’t have to surrender no matter how long he’s away. Do I sense a double standard?
- He shows up when he wants to, but he’s still promoted more than anyone else. Recently, the WWE was in Knoxville Tennessee. That’s home to Bianca Belaire who has just celebrated over 400 days as the women’s champion. Was programming centered around her? No, it was not. It was centered around “Roman returning to WWE”. As in, over a month away from…
