The Time Thief
Here’s the dirty down low
I’ve wanted to steal your time since we met.
to pick the lock of your perfect time management
interrupt quiet evenings spent eating pizza
or sneak in beside you to a Panthers game.
I’ve wanted to see a blur- not two schedules but one
marked with cuddle time, watching horror movies,
cheering over the success of the Steelers-
because you love them.
Steal time to walk around my second hometown.
Now, I want to steal you time permanently
to wake up beside you and forego the morning
routine to cuddle before we start work.
I want to steal your vacation time,
to redirect from California to D.C.
where you’ll play the role of tour guide.
To watch slow sunsets together on the porch.
To have a never ending loop of time together.
Each day, fighting battles with you, distracting you when you’re on social media for too long.
I want to steal your time because I love you
and I can’t imagine life without your presence.
Tell me now if I’m being selfish or if you can imagine.
What life together would be like if I stole your time.
