The House at the End of the Lane
The house was constructed between 1945–1947. It was to sit at the end of Ellery Lane, a sparsely populated street.
1948
The woman always seemed to be looking out the upper window. She had known a hard life and was denied the one thing she wanted most. She dreamed as a child of being a mother.
When she got married, everything seemed like it was off to a great start. She married a man who had more money than her family and shared her dreams. But year after year went by without a new life coming.
After a few years, she closed herself in the house. She rarely came out, preferring silence and watching the children play on the street. From the ground, no one could see her tears.
It wasn’t long before her husband became the poster child for the “get off my lawn” grumpy middle-aged man.
1968
It was a crime of passion. The young man never expected his darling beauty to be in bed with his cousin when he got home.
In public, they seemed like a perfect couple. She was in her late 20s, tall and lean, with bright blue eyes and wildly curly strawberry blond hair. She was a working girl, a receptionist quick to tell neighbors how much she loved her life- both job and husband.
