Take Essential Self-Care Days

Scrap the guilt

Culture worships business. Schedules are used as checkpoints. They become measuring sticks and the hats we wear stack up. Taking a day to rest, to sleep in, to do something for simple enjoyment is often frowned upon.

However, I’ve learned the hard way that not taking this kind of day will cause illness, either physical or mental burnout.

Taking a Sabbath day is often considered a religious practice, but it’s a concept that we can all learn from, regardless of our faith or walk of life.

The world will not stop if we decide to shut down and do the things that fuel us one day a week. At least one weekend a month.

There is a time to push ourselves, like when chasing goals, but there’s also a time to slow down. It’s crucial to listen.
