My first time in a library since COVID

Photo by Emil Widlund on Unsplash

overwhelmed by giddiness
I pull books off the shelves
in massive quantities- covering
a table in the back with new to

be reads for my list. I’m not
prone to leaving messes that
will need to be cleaned up

by someone who may have had
a day longer than mine.
In this case, I couldn’t help it.

I spend two hours just selecting
reads to take home.
Apologize to the librarian

while she checks out three
piles of books. Tell her:
It’s my first time since COVID,

I promise to behave better next time.
