At the beginning of each year, I name my journal line up. This is often aspirational and doesn’t last past the second week of January. It’s difficult to keep multiple journals running at the same time.

Once I cut down on the number of journals, I am usually left with an everyday notebook and a junk journal.

My junk journals are usually made from tearing pages out of books I have but didn’t like and don’t think anyone else will want. Once pages are torn out, I usually glue pages together to make a stronger base for the artwork I’ll do later.

Junk journals are often used for creating aesthetically pleasing pages. They’re a way to create art, or to combine journaling with art. They also have a calming effect.

However, in the mix of pages I created with “found materials” (things that we find day to day in our natural lives), I also like to create a few pages each month that highlight that month.

A few examples are: Wrestling premium event results, best books of the month, when ARCs that I take on are due and any traveling or family time from that month.
