I Love This Band So Much that I’ll Pay to See Them Twice In a Month’s Span
Maryland-bound to see Fozzy
This is the first time that I’ve done this: paying twice to see a band two weeks apart. However, for me, Chris Jericho and his band Fozzy are worth the cost.
I’ve been a wrestling fan for over 20 years. Chris Jericho was one of the first wrestlers I loved. He’s now in a company I don’t watch often. However, tell me Fozzy is within four hours, and out comes the credit card.
I’m usually logical with money.
However, I had to wait for over a decade to see Fozzy for the first time. I saw them in 2002 on RAW and thought it would be a fun concert. I missed my first opportunity in 2013 because of work.
I had to wait 15 years.
I saw Fozzy twice within the span of a year: the Summer of 2017 and the Spring of 2018. I purchased tickets for the spring 2020 show as soon as they went on sale in December of 2019. We all know why that didn’t work out.
Fozzy rescheduled three or four times for the Save the World tour. When push came to shove and they were finally able to perform, I had to work.
When I found out they were coming back to Pittsburgh, I purchased the tickets that day. In November, I learned they would be in Maryland. My husband grew up in Gaithersburg. So we snagged tickets.
Fozzy is a band that I love because, just like Jericho in his wrestling career, they’re not afraid to experiment. They’ve done slow love songs like S.O.S. and hard-hitting heavy songs like God Pounds His Nails. The show that I was at recently ended with a cover of Ramones’ Blitzkrieg Bop.
They’re true to their dream of making music that fans love.
During every show, Jericho talks about the dreams deep inside of us. That we can’t give up on them. Will we promise him that we won’t give up?
Making a promise to someone you admire is powerful.
Every time that I’ve seen them has been better than the time before.
Even though I know they’ll come back to Pittsburgh, I’ll still go if they’re within a reasonable range. They recently teased going from intimate settings to the Steelers stadium. I know for sure I’d follow them anywhere.
