I Love My Mom but I Hate Shopping with Her

My mom and I have always been close. We’re a single-parent, only-child dynamic. She’s the one I trust the most, look to for strength and follow her recommendations.

The only thing I don’t love doing with her?

Shopping.

We’re very different shoppers.

I usually make a list before going and can be in and out of stores in 15 minutes. I can be in a bookstore for up to 45 minutes when impulse shopping.

She’s the type who has to browse the entire store and doesn’t know what she wants until she finds it. Her average store visit is about 1–2 hours.

I used to get frustrated when driving her to stores.

“Well at least I brought a good book”.

Thankfully, my husband is the same kind of shopper. They work well together.
