A glimmer is the opposite of a trigger. It’s something that brings you a sense of peace and safety. When Keeley put this as today’s prompt, I knew I wanted to use it as a gratitude list of sorts. These are the things that provide warmth, safety, and beautiful light in my daily life.

Morning Glimmers

I wake up next to a man that is simultaneously my biggest cheerleader and the biggest thorn in my side. I guess that’s what marriage is though, embracing all sides of your chosen mate. No matter what happened yesterday, we cuddle first thing. We tell each other we love each other. I feel comfortable and relaxed (until he triggers me… usually between 8–10 am).

I also wake up with one dog in between my legs and the other one either at my shoulder or in between Randy and I. I’ll get to them in a minute.

One of the first things I do every morning is crack open a can of Kickstart or brew a fresh coffee. I write my morning pages while it brews. My morning pages aren’t always pretty. Sometimes they say the same things. They allow me to dump negativity before starting my…
