When making goals, do you tend to set easily achievable goals or huge goals that will lead to your dreams?
I’ve always thought that it’s important to have overarching goals for my life. Goals that if I’m able to achieve I know that I’ve made it.
I tend to break my goals down into bite-sized pieces.
How I Paid Off My Credit Card in One Year
For example, one of my huge goals is to be completely debt free. When I started my journey, I had student loan debt, car payments, and credit card debt.
I didn’t know what it was like to breathe financially.
I broke my overall plan into smaller goals, the first of which would be my credit card debt. I set the time frame of a year to pay off $8500. It was scary but I knew it was achievable if I stretched myself and got out of my comfort zone.
For me, that looked like enforcing a six-month no-spend challenge. For six months I focused on purchasing essentials only. That meant that any money I didn’t spend on bills could go toward my debt.
