Days 29 and 30 of Journal of Inspiration
a few words on happiness
Day 29:
It’s said that we learn the most through painful experiences.
I believe that we certainly remember the things that hurt us more than we remember the positive.
It’s easy to remember: a bad critique, a broken heart, the times we had to struggle, or that your opinions aren’t valued by someone important to you.
Unless we have a memento of some kind, the happier moments tend to slip our memories because sweetness doesn’t leave a scar (or at least not the kind of scar that pain does).
Here’s what I propose: start a notebook. Each day, write a few positive things that happened that day. Write down the moments that make your heart soar. Write down the things you learned or felt that lit you up.
When tempted to think of only the things that bring pain, get this notebook out and read it. It helps to balance, and it might just be what we need to feel better.
The quote says it all on this one.
