Over the last year, I’ve been enjoying cozy mysteries. I’m always on the hunt for a new favorite and am interested in venturing through the different kinds of cozies. When I saw Primer and Punishment, a career-based cozy on NetGalley as an ARC I jumped at the chance to review.

What It’s About

Whitney and Buck are house flippers. When the chance to try flipping a houseboat comes along, Buck jumps at the chance. However, one day as they are remodeling, a neighbor ship implodes with their neighbor on board. Will they solve the murder or will the killer give them the slip?

What I Loved

There are a lot of things that I enjoyed while reading Primer and Punishment.

  1. Makes a Good Standalone

Primer and Punishment is the fifth book in the House Flipper Mystery series. Prior to reading, I had not read anything in the series or heard of Diane Kelly’s work.

As a new reader to the series, I didn’t feel disconnected. The opening was about how Whitney and Buck are house flippers and that Whitney met her boyfriend through a past murder case.
