Becoming a Night Dweller

Life started to make more sense after 8 pm

For years, I was a daywalker.
Up at 5 am, coffee in hand
trying to keep energy moving.
I was the morning manager
in a fast-food restaurant-
one of the slowest times of the day.
I thought I loved it.

My creative side comes more alive
with the moonlight. Energy comes
easier, ideas flow freer, writing doesn’t
take as long under the moonlight.

I thought I could go with either side
of the coin, day or night.
Turns out, everything about me loves
the later times. I’m more productive.
I feel better. I’m more alive.
