a poem

Your love is the air pouring into the
window in the morning to kiss me awake.
Sending frequent reminders disguised as
chilly days and nights in the winter
the russell of grass in the spring
the infrequent gust in summer
the cooling down of fall,
causing me to stop and reflect: on life
as it was before you entered
and how it would be again if you left.
Those barren days without a torch,
no light, no air, no feeling- I had muted
it all out — to focus on other things — like
traveling in the desert.
Until you showed up and reminded me
of how good the air feels wrapped around me
and how sweet love can really be.
